and offered to 'go into therapy for drug and alcohol use',
it has been claimed.

Brad Pitt is being investigated by police and social services in Los Angeles amid reports he got 'verbally abusive and physical with his children' on a private jet, it has been claimed.
The family is said to have been on a flight when he allegedly became 'wasted' and started 'screaming' before continuing the 'rant' when the plane landed, trying to leave the scene in a fuel truck.
TMZ reports that the alleged episode, last Wednesday, prompted Angelina Jolie to split from the 52-year-old the next day and then file for divorce.
Pitt is believed to be under investigation by the LAPD and LA County Department of Children and Family Services. He and Jolie are said to have been interviewed as part of the probe, and there are plans for authorities to speak to the children.
A source close to Pitt told TMZ that he is taking the matter seriously but 'did not commit any abuse of his children'. MailOnline has requested comments from Jolie and Pitt this morning.
It comes amid claims Pitt was desperate for one more chance to save his marriage and offered to 'go into therapy for drug and alcohol use'.

Mass arrest after coup failed in Turkey

Some 2,839 soldiers, including high-ranking officers, have been arrested over an attempted coup that is now over, says Turkey’s PM Binali Yildirim.
In a night he called a “black stain on Turkish democracy”, he said 161 people had been killed and 1,440 wounded.
Explosions and gunfire were heard in Ankara, Istanbul and elsewhere overnight and thousands of Turks heeded President Erdogan’s call to rise up against the coup-plotters.
It is not clear who is behind the coup.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan blamed a “parallel structure”, in a clear reference to Fethullah Gulen, a powerful but reclusive US-based Muslim cleric he accuses of fomenting unrest.
However, in a statement, Mr Gulen rejected any suggestion he had links to the events, saying he condemned “in the strongest terms, the attempted military coup in Turkey”.

Why did Turkish coup plot fail?
Reasons behind coup: By BBC’s Middle East Editor Jeremy Bowen
The attempted coup happened because Turkey is deeply divided over President Erdogan’s project to transform the country and because of the contagion of violence from the war in Syria.
President Erdogan and his AK Party have become experts at winning elections, but there have always been doubts about his long-term commitment to democracy. He is a political Islamist who has rejected modern Turkey’s secular heritage. Mr Erdogan has become increasingly authoritarian and is trying to turn himself into a strong executive president.
From the beginning Mr Erdogan’s government has been deeply involved in the war in Syria, backing Islamist opposition to President Assad. But violence has spread across the border, helping to reignite the fight with the Kurdish PKK, and making Turkey a target for the jihadists who call themselves Islamic State.
That has caused a lot of disquiet. Turkey has faced increasing turmoil and the attempt to overthrow President Erdogan will not be the last of it.

Events began on Friday evening when tanks took up positions on two bridges over the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul, blocking it to traffic. Troops were seen on the streets and low-flying military jets were filmed over Ankara.
Shortly after, a faction of the army released a statement saying that a “peace council” was running the country, and it had launched the coup “to ensure and restore constitutional order, democracy, human rights and freedoms”.
President Erdogan was in the south-west holiday resort of Marmaris at the time. He made a televised address, via his mobile phone, urging people to take to the streets to oppose the uprising.
He then flew on to Istanbul, saying Marmaris had been bombed after he left.
In a speech at Istanbul airport, Mr Erdogan said: “What is being perpetrated is a treason and a rebellion. They will pay a heavy price.”

Military coup in Turkey

THE military in Turkey on Friday deployed troops and tanks to the streets of Istanbul and capital city, Ankara, claiming a takeover of government even as armed soldiers stormed government buildings and jets roared over the country’s airspace as Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said a group within the military had attempted to overthrow the government.
A national curfew was announced, and other security forces had been called in to “do what is necessary,” Yildirim said. “Some people illegally undertook an illegal action outside of the chain of command,” Yildirim said in comments broadcast by private channel NTV and reported by Reuters.
“The government elected by the people remains in charge. This government will only go when the people say so.”
Istanbul’s Bosphorus bridge and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridge were both closed by military forces on Friday, local television channels reported, without giving a reason. Istanbul is 320 miles away from Ankara.
The Turkish military, however, claimed in a statement that it had  taken over the country in order for democratic order and human rights to remain. In the statement, the military said that all existing foreign relations would continue and that rule of law would be a priority.
A Turkish presidential source said in a statement, according to Reuters, that the statement made on behalf of the armed forces was not authorized by military command.
Footage from NTV showed tanks at the entrance to Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport, and all flights from the airport were reportedly cancelled. Many social media platforms were blocked in Turkey during Friday’s events, according to internet monitoring groups.
Reacting to the coup in Turkey, former Nigerian Ambassador to the United State, Prof George Obiozor, advised that leaders must be careful on how to use power, be it in Africa, Europe etc.
According to him, power is delicate, and one must make sure that he doesn’t abuse it. If there is any abuse of power, challenge to such power must come.
The diplomat noted that Turkey is one of the most dynamic countries in the world. They taught the world the history of modernization. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, a military man built the modern Turkey. He gave turkey the best democracy and modernisation. He was a military man who built a modern nation.

The channel said it is not believed the man had taken any hostages during the incident. The man is believed to have been in the lorry with the driver and fled on foot to a restaurant called Le Buffalo nearby, where he was killed by an officer with a handgun.
French newspaper Le Figaro quoted police sources saying that officers found weapons, guns and grenades inside the lorry cab, indicating it was a premeditated terrorist attack.

ISIS announces killing of its 'minister of war' Abu Omar al-Shishani in Mosul, Iraq

A news agency linked to the Islamic State, Amaq, claimed that its elite military commander Abu Omar al-Shishani, has been killed.

The 30-year-old better known as Omar the Chechen, reportedly died in combat near the Iraqi city of Shirqat, 100km from the ISIS stronghold of Mosul.

The Pentagon is verifying whether al-Shishani died in a US drone strike carried out earlier this month, officials told CNN. Washington previously boasted that it took out al-Shishani, who has a $5 million bounty on his head, in Syria in March, only to backtrack when Islamic State said he survived his injuries.

Al-Shishani was born into a mixed Georgian-Chechen family, and served in a spec ops unit in the Georgian army, before volunteering to join Islamic State three years ago. He was reportedly consulted by ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on key military movements, as the Islamist group expanded its reach, earning the the title 'minister of war.'
